The Artist Behind the Masterpiece Isn't You
Sometimes, silence tells its own story.
It's been 30 days since I last wrote, yet it feels like months have slipped by. I’ve struggled to capture my thoughts, drafting and discarding every idea. I hope my silence hasn’t been mistaken for writer’s block!
Today, I’m sharing the most persistent thought that has accompanied me throughout August:
“When God is in the picture, everything eventually makes sense.”
A few days ago, I woke up with an unexpected urge to pray in the Spirit. It wasn’t unusual, but this time it felt different and I prayed.
Later that evening, while preparing dinner, I felt an overwhelming pull towards worship. I grabbed my earbuds and played one of my go-to medleys, Ryan Ofei X Warehouse Worship. This time, memories from the year began to flood my mind and the only prayer on my lips was Thank you!
In what I can only describe as an epiphany, it struck me: Despite everything that had happened in the past eight months, I had never felt alone.
From the restless days of job hunting to moments of self-doubt, from stepping into new roles to confronting fears, God has taught me the invaluable lesson of relying solely on Him. And this realization was why I felt compelled to worship.
For the record, I’m a bit of a Tinkerbell, always trying to fix things, even when I have no clue what I’m doing. This tendency has helped me solve many problems, though sometimes it has meant struggling longer than necessary. It’s not exactly a badge of honor!
One of my goals for this year was to grow in my reliance on God. Realizing that eight months had passed with me actively listening to His guidance and following His lead brought a profound joy. I could see growth that truly mattered to me.
I know there are many young Christians, like myself, who are skilled at managing things on their own. They genuinely want to walk with God but struggle to let go of control. Even when they're going through challenges, they feel the need to make one final effort before involving God.
Well, God is all you need to navigate life. Whether you involve Him or not, He is always in the picture. So why not release the reins and let Him do what He does best, take care of you?
Who better to guide you on your life journey than the One who created it? There will be bumps, holes, and traps along the way, so who better to navigate them than the One who can provide the right support to see you through?
As we enter this new month, it’s a perfect time to ‘Rest in God.’ He’s crafting your picture, and you can trust that it will turn out beautifully.
Welcome to September! Happy New Month!
See you on the 1st of October.
P.S. I'll be sharing my thoughts once every month as my workload has immensely increased.
